I can't believe it, but Lorali is already 3 weeks old!!! It's weird, it seems like it has gone by so fast, but at the same time it seems like she has always been here... For something that pretty much does nothing but eat, sleep, and poop - she sure does keep me busy!
Up until this week I have always had someone here helping me so this week has been a little bit of an adjustment. I never thought it would be so hard to find time to shower (don't worry, I find time, it's just harder than it used to be)! She is still being a very good baby. The only time she really fusses is if she's hungry, has a dirty diaper, or is trying to poop. We took her to the pediatrician for a weight check last Monday and she had gained 8 ounces in one week! She was up to 7 pounds 6 ounces on September 29th, so I am sure she is over 8 pounds by now! She is growing so fast, we already had to get her out of newborn diapers because her little legs have gotten so chubby and they were too tight around her little fat rolls :) She is on the verge of outgrowing her newborn clothes, I just can't believe how much she grows and changes every day.
I had to make my first worried phone call to the pediatrician on Monday :( Lorali was having a hard time going to the bathroom. She has a bowel movement after each feeding, but she would just strain so hard (I guess they aren't very efficient at pooping when they are this young) and get really frustrated and make herself very upset. So, they suggested I add a teaspoon of dark Karo syrup to a bottle twice a day, and it seems to really be helping. She hasn't had a serious meltdown since we started. This of course made Will happy also because up until Monday we had not given her a bottle or a pacifier yet, but now he is able to feed her when he gets home from work, and I think he really enjoys that time with her. I like it too because it frees me up a little bit, even if it's just for that one feeding!
My grandparents were here for 9 days and I can't begin to tell you how helpful they were! We managed to keep my grandpa busy with jobs around the house and Grandma Dusty helped around the house and enjoyed her time spoiling Lorali rotten :) - I guess that's what grandmas are for... I can't complain, because I know she did the same thing with me when I was a baby. I was sad to see them leave, but at the same time I was ready to try this whole Mommy thing on my own.
Will's dad and stepmom are coming in town this weekend, so that will be nice. They haven't had a chance to meet Lorali yet, so I know they are excited!
I have about 2 and a half more weeks home alone with her until I have to start going back to work. That will be a hard day, but we will get through it. I am just going to savor all this time with her now!
Here are a few recent pictures... she is just absolutely precious!!!
