Stupid Shots!!!

Hey Everyone~
Can you believe Lorali is 8 weeks old already!!! I know Will and I can't. I just can't get over how big she is getting and how much she is changing. Here is an update over the past few weeks...

The day after my last post we took Lorali to the doctor. She seemed to be having a really hard time going to the bathroom which was unusual because she had been consistently having a bowel movement after every feeding. Well, the doctor told us that she was absolutely perfect and healthy and was afraid that Lorali might have a touch of colic. This wasn't exactly what we wanted to hear, but the thing about colic is there really isn't anything you can do about it, so no sense in getting too upset! The doctor told me to try taking dairy out of my diet and that might help with the bathroom part. Well... I did that and FINALLY six days later Lorali had a bowel movement! I don't know about you guys, but if I went 6 days without going to the bathroom I wouldn't be very happy either!!! Since then she has been right back on track with her bowel movements, so I guess that means no pizza or ice cream or milk or yogurt or cheese for me for a while! Oh the sacrifices :) And, she has not been nearly as fussy, so we don't think she has colic, we think she just had a really bad bellyache.

We took her to the doctor again yesterday for her 8-week check up and terrible terrible shots :( I must say, she took them pretty well though. She got 3 sticks in her little hamhocks. She screamed bloody murder while they were giving them to her, but once her daddy picked her up she was fine within about 15 seconds :) I think the hardest part for me was knowing that she wasn't just crying, she was crying because she was in pain and WE were doing it to her!!! But, I guess that just comes with being a parent. Here is a picture of her right after her shots. Isn't she pitiful.

Once again the doctor told us she is absolutely perfect and healthy. She weighs 11 pounds 13 ounches, which is in the 75th percentile. She is 22 inches long (50th percentile) and she measures in the 50th percentile for her head circumference as well. She is just growing right along :) She also has reached all of her 8-week milestones: holding her head, obviously looking at objects, grasping items placed in her hands, cooing, smiling, etc. It is the absolute most precious thing to see her smile and here her little giggle.

We had our last weekend of house guests for a while this past weekend. I think we set a record for the number of people in our house!!! It was a little chaotic, but a lot of fun. LMU's baseball coach held an alumni weekend so Will had a few of his former teammates come in town for the festivities which included golf and an alumni game (classic entertainment for us spectators, haha). Gamma Dar, Robin, Caitlyn, Katie, and Alli also visited.

We will just be relaxing this coming weekend, but next weekend we will be going out of town for Thanksgiving break. We are going to start by visiting our friends Jason and Cortney (and hopefully newborn Paige!) in Nashville, then head to Huntsville to stay with Aunt Karen and Connie, then onto Birmingham to see the rest of the family. This should be an interesting trip! It will be Lorali's first big trip away from home and the first time she will be in her carseat (which she does not like!) for longer than an hour and a half at one time. We may be making lots of stops!

Also, since my last post I have gone back to work. It has been a nice transition so far. My friend Rebecca (she has a 16 week old daughter named Molly) watches Lorali for us while I am in class, then I pick her up and bring her back to my office. I am really lucky that I have so much flexibility and am able to have Lorali so close by. I may not get a whole lot of work done when she is in my office, but at least I am there :)

For Halloween we dressed Lorali up as a pumpkin. She was pretty darn cute if I do say so myself. Here is a picture...Well, I think that is about it. I will try to do better about updating everyone, it is just hard to find the time. I hope this finds all of you well!!!

Here are a few more pictures...

Here are Lorali and her friend Molly... aren't they sweet!!!

Love,

Ahleasha, Will, and Lorali
